Artist: Broken Social Scene
Album: Forgiveness Rock Record.
Rating: Fucking Awesome out of Fucking Awesome

Finally, after a long paitent wait, I was able to download and listen to Forgiveness Rock Record. I love Broken Social Scene. They are my number 3 band of list of my favorite bands. This album is awesome. It seems like the got in the studio and did some actual work. They sound much more composed and a lot tighter than before. By bypassing overproduction, they have a true indie-rock album.

Live performance by BSS, Forced to Love

I purchased this, and it has been pretty sweet listening so far.

Artisit: Surfer Blood
Album: Astro Coast
Grade: I decided not to grade them...cause i've listened to some shit too. but i only end up posting the stuff i like.

Review...Very Guitary. Like old school Weezer. I first heard swim on indie hits on launchcast. then I dug deeper. their lead singer reminds me much of a british issac brock.

Artist: MGMT
Album: Congratulations

Review: Numbers and I had an opportunity to see them at Lollapalooza. I am kicking my ass for not taking the opportunity. These guys were under the radar for me. They came out with Oracular Spectacular around that time. It's very poppy and appeals to the casual listener. (Pretty bitching album too, once I gave it a shot)

This new album is something completely different. I dig it quite a bit. They seem to be going in that indie trend, Number's coined the term Indietronica. I really like their attempt at it.

I bring you: Volbeat. All the way from Denmark.

Metallica and Johnny Cash sound. Kinda.

They opened up for Metallica in Sacramento.

I like the Silversun Pickups, It's Nice to Know You Work Alone is a good track

Yeah, it is, I think the whole album is pretty solid.  I really want to go see them when they come close.  Also, you don't have to do the whole you tube button thing apparently anymore.  Just post the link, and it auto does it.

I saw the Sick Puppies in concert, and they were ok, but I checked out their latest album Tri-Polar, and it's a pretty solid album from start to finish.

I know I've always been the one who had really bad taste in music, but between the Sick Puppies and Cavo, I feel pretty confident that I'm not a complete musical loser.

Two other bands that I've been listening too:

Them Crooked Vultures - Super group comprised of John Paul Jones (Led Zep), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), and Josh Homme (Queens of The Stoneage).  The debut album is a monster action packed awesome pack of goodness.  I like the song Mind Eraser No Chaser the best, but all have a great vibe.  This sounds like old 70's rock, but it seems relevant because Dave Grohl and Josh Homme bring the modern rock influence.  Here is New Fang

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/S7_vH3H8LPI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/S7_vH3H8LPI</a>

Silversun Pickups - Yes, Steve originally thought this lead singer was a girl like Coheed, but after their initial album, last years follow up, Swoon, is even better, and fuller.  Songs like Substitution, Panic Switch, and Sort Of are very catchy and radio friendly, but still pack the punch.  Songs like Growing Old Is Getting Old and There are No Secrets This Year were my favorites, but The Royal We has to be the best song on the album hands down.  Its beautifully comprised, and it builds to just explode.

Fang Island sounds like a more metal version of the Lion King soundtrack.  Me likey

I like We were promised Jetpacks, but all their songs seem to sound the same.

Good thread, keep it going

In case Ratty doesn't get to these two bands (Sorry Ratty if you didn't want me intruding on this thread):

#1 We Were Promised Jet Packs (WWJP) - The name alone kicks ass, but this Scottish-Indie band is fucking awesome.  Steve has brought up the fact that they might be a one trick pony in their sound which is punk rock/indie with a twist of Scottish vocals.  Their album flows from fast to slow songs, and they all pack a punch.   My favorite song is "Moving Clocks Run Slow"

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/0nw7mThmd6E" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/0nw7mThmd6E</a>

#2 Two Door Cinema Club - This band is another gem that I discovered on sirius.  They are an electropop/indie band from Northern Ireland.  Definitely not anywhere near the hard sound of WWPJ, but very good stuff all the way through.  They remind me of Phoenix, yet they seem to have more faster songs and electronic songs on their album.  Favorite song is Undercover Martyn, although I can Talk is the single:

well, thanks to my awesome work schedule. I got scheduled an appointment and have to miss the concert tonight. I am terribly sad. However, I made a butt ton on scalping the tickets on craigslist.

Lately Numbers and I have been listening to all kinds of new music. I've downloaded atleast 15 albums over the past couple of days. I will post some that I think its worth checking out.

First installment of Ratty's Musical Corner

You Heard It Here (Possibly) First...

Band: Fang Island
Album: Fang Island
Grade: Solid 8 out of 10

Review: They are the shit. I always wanted to start my own band. (*cough*CRAIGSTEVENUMBERScough*) They stole my fucking sound. This would be exactly what I want to achieve. Andrew WK mixed with indie boy vocals. They happened to make a low budget music video for my favorite song on the album.  thumbup thumbup

Here is, Daisy, by Fang Island.
