In this clip we find Num13e12s making his best attempt at a defensive stand. I assume he figured we have a flag here that we need to protect. He then realized that he had a trip mine. Once the warthog showed up I assume Num13e12s figured he had no other choice then to deploy the trip mine for the good of the flag.
There was just one problem with his rock solid reasoning...

As it turns out trip mines and moving team members do not mix. Apparently Num13e12s missed that part at the academy.
